Aethel Audio

Guide

How to translate an ebook and listen to it in your language.

Aethel Audio translates books you own into one of 17 languages and reads them aloud, keeping equations, tables and figures in context. Here is the whole process, start to finish.

Try it free

1. Add your book

Upload an EPUB, PDF or plain text file up to 100 MB, search the free Project Gutenberg classics, or paste a direct link to a file from a trusted public library. The book must be one you are allowed to use — shop-locked books from Amazon or Apple cannot be imported by any app.

2. Pick your language

Choose one of 17 reading languages in Settings or from the reading screen. Each chapter is translated on demand and saved, so it opens quickly when you come back. You can switch back to the original text at any time.

3. Read or listen in your language

The translated chapter is narrated with the current sentence highlighted as it is read. Equations, tables and figures are described in plain words in your language instead of being read out symbol by symbol, and you can ask for an explanation of any passage.

What it costs

The free plan has no time limit: it covers five book imports and one hour of voice narration on standard voices. Paid plans add unlimited books, more narration hours and the high-fidelity voice library, and start with a 7-day trial.
