Aethel is the data controller for the Aethel service. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.
Account data: your email address and the password hash created at sign-up (or the basic profile returned by Google if you sign in that way).
Library data: the files you upload, the text extracted from them, translations, AI-generated notes and narration audio, plus your reading position and preferences.
Billing data: your plan, subscription status and renewal dates. Card details are handled entirely by Stripe and never reach our servers.
Usage data: counts of characters translated, narrated and books added, used to enforce trial allowances, plus basic technical error logs.
To provide the service you asked for (contract), to bill you and prevent abuse (legitimate interests and legal obligation), and to answer support requests.
Supabase — database, authentication and encrypted file storage. Stripe — payments. ElevenLabs — text-to-speech generation. AI model providers via the Lovable AI Gateway — translation, explanations and dossiers. Each receives only what is needed for its task.
We instruct our AI and speech providers not to retain your content for model training.
Your library is private. Database row-level security restricts every book, translation, audio clip and note to your account, and uploaded files sit in private storage reachable only through short-lived signed links issued to you.
Library content stays until you delete it or close your account. Billing records are kept for as long as tax law requires. Deleting your account removes your books, audio, translations and preferences.
You can access, correct, export or delete your data, object to processing, and complain to your local data protection authority. Write to support@aethel.app and we will respond within 30 days.
We use only what is necessary: a session token that keeps you signed in and local preferences. No advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
Privacy questions: support@aethel.app.
