Aethel Audio vs Audible
Audible is a store: you choose from its catalogue of professionally narrated audiobooks. For novels, biographies and popular science it is hard to beat. But you can't bring your own files, and relatively few maths-heavy textbooks are published as audiobooks, because equations and figures don't narrate well by default. Aethel works the other way round: it narrates the exact edition you are studying, including its notation.

Test it on your hardest page
The fairest comparison is your own material. Import the same maths-heavy chapter into both and listen to a page with equations. Here is what Aethel says for a classic:
Attention(Q, K, V) = softmax(QKᵀ / √dₖ)V
Aethel says
Attention of Q, K, V equals softmax of the quantity QK transpose over the square root of d sub k, times V

Questions
Can Aethel play my Audible books?
No. Audible titles are protected and play only in Audible's apps. Aethel is for the books and papers you have as files.
Is AI narration as good as a human narrator?
For a novel, a great human narrator is still the best experience. For a technical text you need to study this week, AI narration of the exact edition, equations included, is often the only option.
